		<description><![CDATA[Create custom website error pages by editing the Apache .htaccess file.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h4><strong>How to create custom error pages by editing the .htaccess file:</strong></h4>
<p>First, edit an .htaccess file in your public_html directory so that it contains the following lines:<br />
<code><br />
ErrorDocument 404 /myerrors/404.html<br />
ErrorDocument 403 /myerrors/403.html<br />
ErrorDocument 500 /myerrors/500.html</code></p>
<p><strong>We&#8217;ll explain what each piece is:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong> ErrorDocument:</strong> This command tells Apache that this is the error document to use for this directory and all subdirectories, unless otherwise specified.</li>
<li><strong>404</strong> <strong>(403 and 500): </strong>These represent the error code(s) for which Apache will serve custom error pages.  If you just want a custom 404 page, you only need the first line.</li>
<li><strong>/myerrors/404.html (403.html and 500.html):</strong> The path to the document on your site that should be used when this error occurs. In this example, the error documents are located within the <code>/public_html/myerrors/</code> directory. Please note that you need the / at the beginning so that the web server knows to start at /public_html/</li>
</ul>
<p>If you use a path to the document like <code>/myerrors/404.html</code>, the URL in the browser will remain the same, but the error page is shown. If you wish to show the URL of the error page instead, simply use the complete URL to the error page. The example below shows how to do this for the 404 (file not found) error:</p>
<p><code>ErrorDocument 404 http://www.yourdomain.com/myerrors/404.html</code></p>
<p>If your error page doesn&#8217;t come up that after doing this, check spelling, capitalization, and the path or url of the error document to make sure it&#8217;s correct. If it is, try adding more content to the error page. Some browsers are set so that if there isn&#8217;t enough content in the error page, they use their own default error page.</p>

<p>To stop directory listings from showing up, add the following line inside an .htaccess file placed in the directory you wish to protect:</p>
<p><code>Options -Indexes</code></p>
<p>Alternatively, you can upload a blank page named index.html to the directory you&#8217;d like to protect.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h4>How long will it take for you to setup my hosting account?</h4>
<p>We try to get all accounts setup and welcome emails sent within 6 hours from receipt of payment.  Usually, it&#8217;s within an hour.</p>
<p>Your welcome email contains all the basic information you&#8217;ll need to upload your site, access your control panel, setup email accounts, etc.<br />
<em><br />
</em><strong>Paying by credit card or PayPal: </strong><em>For fastest setup, please use a credit card or PayPal when checking out. </em>If you do not receive your welcome email within 12 hours from placing your order, please email sales @ ivycat.com and we will investigate further.</p>
<p><strong>Paying by check or money order: </strong>We will acknowledge your order when you place it, and your account will be setup as soon as the payment is received and cleared. Once your payment is received, you&#8217;ll get a confirmation and receipt via email, followed by your welcome email.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[A guide to moving your web hosting to IvyCat from another provider.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h4><strong>To transfer your site to IvyCat</strong>, please do the following:</h4>
<ol>
<li><strong>Select and purchase a hosting package</strong> <strong>from our <a href="https://www.ivycat.com/client/signup.php?clienttype=5" target="_blank">Secure Ordering Page</a>.</strong>
<p><em>Make sure to enter a valid, existing email address when you sign up -</em> <em>not one using the domain we&#8217;ll be hosting</em>. Once payment is received and your account is activated, you&#8217;ll receive a welcome email with a username and password.</li>
<li><strong>Backup your existing site and files </strong>at your existing host. Often hosts backup sites regularly, but it&#8217;s always better to be safe than sorry.</li>
<li><strong>Upload your files to your new hosting account</strong> using the FTP information in the welcome email.
<p>If you need help moving your site, log into the <a href="https://www.ivycat.com/client/" target="_blank">Helpdesk</a> using the username and password in your welcome email, and submit a Support ticket with <em>Site Transfer</em> in the category field. Enter the login details and server information for your existing web hosting account.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll communicate with you regarding the site move through this ticket, and will let you know when the transfer is complete. If your existing account uses cPanel, we can usually transfer all of your files for you.</li>
<li><strong>Setup your email accounts </strong>by logging into your cPanel. See the <a href="http://www.ivycat.com/category/knowledgebase/">Knowledgebase</a> for more information. Make sure to setup an email account on the new server for each existing email address before moving on.</li>
<li><strong>If possible, request that your existing host changes your TTL (time to live) settings</strong> <strong>for your site to 600 seconds.</strong> By default, these settings are usually 14,400 seconds, which equals 4 hours. This means that DNS servers around the Net will refresh the record every 4 hours. <em>To ensure a quicker switch, request that your host make (and confirm) this change 24 &#8211; 48 hours before you take step 6 below.</em></li>
<li><strong>Setup your domain nameservers. </strong>If you already have a domain name, you&#8217;ll need to either set the nameservers as listed in your welcome email, or transfer your domain to our registrar using the <a href="https://www.registryrocket.com/default.asp?ec=62E14571-BC25-4C3F-8C92-2" target="_blank">Domain Management Page</a>, and we can switch the nameservers for you.</li>
</ol>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve made the nameserver change, it can take 2 &#8211; 48 hours for these changes to &#8216;propagate&#8217; throughout the Internet. In the meantime, some traffic may be directed to both the old and new server.</p>
<p>Note: If you lowered your TTL settings in step 5, domain propagation should be much quicker.</p>
<p><strong>If you have any questions about your transfer,</strong> please open a support ticket in the <a href="https://www.ivycat.com/client/">Helpdesk</a>.</p>
