Email account storage quotas aren’t mandatory in cPanel, but they can be a good way to protect your hosting account’s storage from being completely filled up by users with too much email on the server.

To Change Email Account Quotas in cPanel:

Login to your domain’s cPanel

Click on Add/Remove Email Accounts under Email Management Tools

How to install free software using cPanel's Fantastico.

Fantastico is an easy installer system for cPanel®. It allows you to easily all sorts of useful software directly from your cPanel using a handy wizard-driven interface.

Available Fantastico Software Includes:

Blogs – like WordPress

Content Management Systems – like Drupal or Joomla

Forums – like phpBB or SMF

Shopping Carts – like OSCommerce, ZenCart

Project Management, Wikis, CRM, and lots more.

To install software using Fantastico:

Login to your hosting cPanel.

Click the Fantastico link under the Software section of your cPanel

Once Fantastico loads, you’ll see a column of available software on the left column – click on the software package you’d like to install.

Click the New Installation link and follow the instructions to setup the software.

Depending on the software, you’ll usually set the administrator information, the directory in which you’d like your software installed, database information and more.

Once you’ve completed all the required information, click the Install button and sit back and watch the magic.

A few notes about using Fantastico:

cPanel® maintains the versions of software available through Fantastico, so Fantastico doesn’t always contain the most recent version of the software.

Some prefer to manually install software by downloading directly from the vendor’s site and following setup instructions. In general, this gives you more fine-grained control.

If you’re using Fantastico for the first time, please make sure to backup your site files before installing software.

How to login to your hosting account using File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

All FTP login details should be contained in your welcome email. If you lost your copy of the email, you can always log into the Helpdesk and have another one sent.

To log into your FTP accounts, you’ll use the following information:

Server Name:

If your domain has propagated, then you can use your domain name for the FTP server.

If it hasn’t, you can use the server’s IP address, so long as it’s a shared account that does not have a dedicated IP. Your welcome email will tell you what server you’re on and its IP address.

Username:

If you’re attempting to log into the main FTP account, your username is the same as your cPanel username for the account.

If you’re trying to access a sub-FTP account (an FTP account you created through cPanel), then the username will resemble an email address like this: username@yourdomain.com.

Password:

If you’re accessing your main FTP account, this is the password for your cPanel account.

If you’re accessing a sub-FTP account, this is the password you set for that account.

Port:

The port should default to 21. However, if it doesn’t, that’s the port to use. Be sure to upload to the public_html directory too.
