What FTP information do I need to log into my site?

All FTP login details should be contained in your welcome email. If you lost your copy of the email, you can always log into the Helpdesk and have another one sent.

To log into your FTP accounts, you’ll use the following information:

Server Name:

If your domain has propagated, then you can use your domain name for the FTP server.

If it hasn’t, you can use the server’s IP address, so long as it’s a shared account that does not have a dedicated IP. Your welcome email will tell you what server you’re on and its IP address.

Username:

  • If you’re attempting to log into the main FTP account, your username is the same as your cPanel username for the account.
  • If you’re trying to access a sub-FTP account (an FTP account you created through cPanel), then the username will resemble an email address like this: username@yourdomain.com.

Password:

  • If you’re accessing your main FTP account, this is the password for your cPanel account.
  • If you’re accessing a sub-FTP account, this is the password you set for that account.

Port:

The port should default to 21. However, if it doesn’t, that’s the port to use. Be sure to upload to the public_html directory too.
